This is another initiative by KKV Management – Alumni Immersions. We have these talks every fortnight by an Alumni member addressing senior students of KKV since June, 2024. The talks range from specialized knowledge, to learnings, pursuit of career, skills improvement, social awareness & responsibility, motivational, ethics and so on. It could be any topic that would help shape the attitude and thinking of the young minds.
Dr. Akila Parvathy of 1983 batch, addressed the Students on Mindfulness and Mental Health. Although it was an abstract and an intense topic, she made it extremely simple and assimilable to young minds to reinforce the need for mindfulness even as a student. The joy of being mindful couldn’t have been presented better.
Mr. NS Sekar of 1985 batch, presented an exciting topic “Leveraging AI to excel in Academics and Career Building”. Stressing the need for supplementing regular learning with AI based learning, the students got really encouraged to try out various platforms for various topics, that we had to have a follow-up session on another day
Ms.Kala Balasubramanian of 1985 batch, spoke on “Volunteering and Community Service – Building a portfolio”, from Canada. Appreciate her initiative in spite of the fact that the timing was 5 AM her time. This certainly brought an awareness of social responsibility and service mindedness amongst the young ones that volunteering and community service can even be at a miniscule level on a day to day basis.
Mr. V Krishnan of 1984 batch took the effort of visiting our campus recently, all the way from Mumbai, only for the Immersion Session. The session was on Lifelong (L)earning – Discover the joy of Acquiring Knowledge”, where he explained the students the values of five “R”s in Learning, with real examples. The fact that he himself holds multiple degrees and certifications, and is currently doing a PhD, the session was only made more inspirational.
Dr SP Thiruppathy of 1991 batch had made it to our campus last week to address the Teachers on “Learning & Memory”. With learning being a different experience for every student, the teachers were able to appreciate why there is so much difference in outcomes amongst students, along with the brilliance of memory functioning at many levels in a human being.
We earnestly request that all of you come forward and share your rich experiences in these Alumni Immersions – could be for Students or for Teachers. We would be honored to host you online or in person.
Standing at the threshold of transforming the teaching and learning experience at KKV, we feel that these Alumni Immersion Sessions are adding huge value and impact on students and teachers in terms of knowledge, wisdom, motivation, inspiration and ability to think differently.
